WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Senator Shelley Moore Capito (R-W.Va.) today appeared on FOX News Channel’s “America’s Newsroom” to discuss the long-awaited Phase Three coronavirus relief package agreement.
HIGHLIGHTS:
WE’VE GOT A DEAL: “The urgency of the package that we’ve been working on—which is very similar to the package they agreed to—would have provided that three, four days ago. But, we are where we are. They finally said yes…this is very good news.”
WE ARE AT WAR: “We are at war against an invisible enemy, this COVID virus. This is wartime funding. This is disaster funding that is big and broad that will hopefully give us the economic stability but also supplies for our health worker and care for our health workers to stabilize the situation while we move through these very difficult weeks.”
YOUR MOVE, SPEAKER PELOSI: “We’ve been diddling around here for the last several days with political agendas at the forefront, which is the last thing the American people were wanting to see. So now that we’ve put those to rest, I think the House needs to pass this today and get it to the president right after we do.”
HELP FOR THE MEDICAL COMMUNITY: “The place we need to key in on is our health professionals, our hospitals, our community health centers, our nursing homes to make sure they have the beds, ventilators, masks, and workforce to handle this as it peaks.”
LOOKING OUT FOR MAIN STREET: “What we want to do is keep people connected to their employer so that when things are over, when this starts to head down, and we reopen, there are jobs there, there are businesses there, and there’s the ability to jumpstart the economy. I think that’s what we addressed in this bill with workers’ compensation, with the small business aid.”
