MOOREFIELD, W.Va. – Today, U.S. Senator Shelley Moore Capito (R-W.Va.), Ranking Member of the Senate Appropriations Subcommittee on Labor, Health and Human Services, Education, and Related Agencies (Labor-HHS), traveled to Moorefield, W.Va. where she participated in the groundbreaking ceremony for the new Hardy County Health Department. This project will develop a new Hardy County Health Department and Food Service Training Facility that will address the needs of the growing community, enhance and increase medical services available to residents, and expand food service and community educational opportunities. Senator Capito secured funding for this project in 2023.
“Hardy County is a bright spot for our state and is one of our counties that continues to grow in population. This soon-to-be new health department is the culmination of collaboration across the federal, state, and local levels, and will help serve the health, food service, and educational needs of those in this community. I was proud to play a role in making this project possible, and I look forward to the positive impact that it will make right here in Hardy County,” Senator Capito said.
“It has been a pleasure to work with Senator Capito over the years. She has been very supportive and understands the needs of the communities, and continuously works to meet those needs for West Virginia communities. Hardy County thanks the Senator for being here today and her continued support,” Mallie Combs, Executive Director of the Hardy County Rural Development Authority, said.
