NITRO, W.Va. — Yesterday, U.S. Senator Shelley Moore Capito (R-W.Va.) joined Brenntag leadership, employees, local representatives, the Nitro Police Department, and residents of the community to cut the ribbon on completed upgrades to the Brenntag facility in Nitro, W.Va. Through major investments, Brenntag has installed new equipment to safely and efficiently provide clean drinking water throughout West Virginia.
“Brenntag has made substantial investments into West Virginia, and I’m honored to be on hand to celebrate the upgrades they have made and see them firsthand. The leadership here at Brenntag has worked tirelessly to build connections throughout the community of Nitro, and the impact they make creates a meaningful difference in the lives of our residents. I look forward to seeing the progress that this investment will make across our state,” Senator Capito said.
“Brenntag thanks Senator Capito for taking time to visit and celebrate the ribbon cutting ceremony at our Nitro, West Virginia facility. We appreciate her support of the chemical industry and her understanding of the many contributions that this industry provides to the state of West Virginia,” Matt Fridley, Brenntag Senior Director Security and Safety, said.
“The chemical industry serves an essential role in the U.S. economy,” Eric R. Byer, President and CEO of the National Association of Chemical Distributors (NACD), said. “Site visits offer an opportunity for lawmakers to experience this important work first-hand, giving the industry the chance to build relationships and raise awareness on some of the issues we are currently facing. NACD applauds the leadership of Senator Capito and her work to support our industry, particularly her efforts to support the critical Chemical Facility Anti-Terrorism Security (CFATS) program. NACD looks forward to continuing to work with her to further protect and strengthen the chemical industry in the years to come.”
Earlier in the day, Senator Capito held her 29th West Virginia Girls Rise Up event at Sissonville Middle School with West Virginia Supreme Court Chief Justice Beth Walker and Justice Haley Bunn. Learn more here.
