FAIRMONT, W.Va. – U.S. Senator Shelley Moore Capito (R-W.Va.) today made several stops in Marion County, where she visited a local small business and delivered the keynote address at the Marion County Chamber of Commerce Annual Dinner.
Senator Capito visited TMC Technologies, a leading-edge technology services small business that provides collaboration in the space, defense, justice, cybersecurity, energy, and natural resources/climate sectors. During the stop, Senator Capito toured the facility, and received an update on operations from business leaders.
“TMC Technologies is a great example of the tech success that is happening in north central West Virginia right now,” Senator Capito said. “I was so impressed during today’s visit, particularly when it came to learning more about TMC’s federal contract work at our FBI and NASA IV&V facilities right here in West Virginia.”
“Senator Capito consistently promotes policies that are good for the country; while looking for federal opportunities and projects suited for West Virginia. Her hard work inspires West Virginia-based companies like TMC Technologies to solve today’s challenges with tomorrow’s solutions and technologies,” Wade Linger, TMC Technologies President and CEO, said.
In the evening, Senator Capito attended the Marion County Chamber of Commerce’s Annual Dinner where she provided the keynote address.
“Our county chambers are central to economic development in West Virginia, and I’m especially thankful for the hard-work and leadership displayed by the Marion County Chamber of Commerce,” Senator Capito said. “The on-the-ground perspective of our local leaders is essential to my work in Washington, and provides me with the vision to advocate for the specific resources our communities need to thrive. It was great to speak with so many dedicated West Virginians in Fairmont this evening, and I look forward to continuing our work together towards making West Virginia the best place to live, work, and raise a family.”
“It was an honor to have Senator Capito as our Keynote Speaker for the largest business event in Marion County. The Marion County Chamber of Commerce is fortunate to have her in Washington working on our behalf,” Tina Shaw, Marion County Chamber of Commerce President, said.
Earlier in the day, Senator Capito, who is the Ranking Member of the Senate Environment and Public Works (EPW) Committee, hosted U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (FWS) Director Martha Williams in Charleston, W.Va. for meetings focused on alleviating regulatory delays to critical projects across the state. At a recent EPW Committee hearing, Senator Capito secured a commitment from Director Williams to visit West Virginia and address these ongoing issues. Click here for a full recap on those visits.
“At a time when we should be taking full advantage of new investments in West Virginia’s infrastructure, we are seeing delays and backlogs due to lengthy agency review processes and staffing shortages,” Senator Capito said. “I appreciate Director Williams fulfilling the commitment she made to come to our state, see firsthand the impact of these projects not being able to get off the ground, and work with us to resolve these problems and coordinate more efficiently moving forward. There is still work to do here, and I look forward to continuing the dialogue with Director Williams and her staff to move projects forward.”
