WHEELING, W.Va. – U.S. Senator Shelley Moore Capito (R-W.Va.) today visited Wheeling, W.Va. where she toured the Wheeling Nailers Minor League Hockey facility and delivered remarks at an event celebrating Wheeling Hospital joining WVU Health System.
Senator Capito first toured Wesbanco Arena and met with members of the Wheeling Nailers organization, including players, coaches, staff, and the front office.
“Nailers hockey has been a mainstay here in Wheeling for three decades,” Senator Capito said. “The pandemic hit the organization especially hard and today’s visit was a great opportunity to hear about the ways they are adapting as we recover. I know I’m not alone in looking forward to a full WesBanco Arena very soon and I wish the team best of luck the rest of the season.”
Senator Capito then delivered remarks at a celebration of Wheeling Hospital integrating with WVU Health System.
“The addition of Wheeling Hospital to the WVU Health System will not just benefit the Wheeling community, but it will also benefit the entire state of West Virginia,” Senator Capito said. “This partnership is the culmination of a lot of hard work to ensure that this region maintains access to top quality health care, and brings the potential for new services and care for patients. It is because of the tireless efforts of Douglass Harrison, Rev. Mark Brennan, Albert Wright, and so many others that we were able to celebrate this important announcement today.”
