WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, U.S. Senators Shelley Moore Capito (R-W.Va.) and Joe Manchin (D-W.Va.) announced $113,260 from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) for fire departments in Mineral, Hampshire and Cabell counties. The Assistance to Firefighters Grants will help these fire departments purchase equipment needed to keep their communities safe.
“West Virginia’s brave firefighters put their lives on the line in order to keep our families, homes and communities safe,” said Senator Capito. “These grants will provide our local fire departments with the tools necessary to respond quickly and efficiently in emergency situations.”
“Our dedicated volunteers at our local fire departments sacrifice so much to protect our families and our homes,” Senator Manchinsaid. “My experience working with the volunteer rescue squad in Marion County will always remind me of the hard work of our first responders and their incredible dedication to our communities. These grants will provide our first responders in New Creek, Romney and Barboursville with the necessary equipment and training to quickly respond to West Virginians in times of need and keep our communities safe."
