WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Senator Shelley Moore Capito (R-W.Va.), today spoke on the Senate floor to highlight the economic and investment potential created by Opportunity Zones, a key part of the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act the senator co-sponsored.
“With the creation of the Opportunity Zones, enthusiasm is growing across the Mountain State when it comes to our economic potential,” Senator Capito said. “That’s really what Opportunity Zones are all about—not only driving investments today but building those foundations of growth and development for the future.”
In August 2018, Senator Capito hosted Senator Tim Scott (R-S.C.) in Huntington, West Virginia, to explore the Opportunity Zones in the area and speak with local public- and private-sector leaders. She also authored an op-ed with Senator Scott explaining Opportunity Zones’ potential in West Virginia. A video highlighting the trip is available here.
