Thanksgiving is always a special time in our family as it is in many families. This one will definitely be different—a lot less people around the table.
But, I think as much as we want to get 2020 over with, Thanksgiving is a good time for us to express not just our gratitude, but also our thanks for all of the things that have happened in 2020 that maybe we haven’t thought about.
I’m grateful for the additional time I’ve been able to spend with my family.
I’m grateful for the additional time I’ve actually spent in my own home with my family.
We have a new baby in our house who was born in 2020, and I got to spend six weeks with him that I wouldn’t have ordinarily gotten to do.
I’m grateful for the scientists that are developing therapeutics and vaccines that are going to help us deal with this pandemic.
I’m grateful for all of the workers and the folks that have been on the front lines.
I’m grateful for the folks in the grocery store who kept the shelves stocked and made it a little bit easier during this difficult time.
I’m grateful to be an American. I’m grateful to be a West Virginian. And, I’m really grateful to be a United States Senator.
