USE IT Act

WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Senator Shelley Moore Capito (R-W.Va), a member of the Environment and Public Works (EPW) Committee, today discussed her bipartisan bill, the Utilizing Significant Emissions with Innovative Technologies (USE IT) Act at a legislative hearing. The bill would incentivize carbon capture utilization and storage (CCUS) and encourage innovation in the use of energy resources.

“[T]imely enactment of the USE IT Act is so vital for making broad-based deployment of carbon capture utilization and storage technologies a reality. If the United States and the world are to bend the curve on atmospheric carbon dioxide, CCUS has to be a part of a policy and technological mix,” Senator Capito said. “CCUS will also serve to preserve employment in industries like coal and construction and manufacturing; and in the process, it will prevent major market disruptions that could kill jobs and significantly raise costs for energy and goods across our nation.”
