WASHINGTON, D.C. – Senators Shelley Moore Capito (R-W.Va.) and Joe Manchin (D-W.Va.), and Congressmen David McKinley, Alex Mooney and Evan Jenkins met with U.S. Assistant Secretary of Commerce for Economic Development Jay Williams today to discuss the challenges facing West Virginia’s economy. The delegation came together to push for additional funding through the Economic Development Administration. The delegation issued this joint statement following the meeting:
“Today’s meeting was an opportunity to speak directly with Assistant Secretary Williams about the needs of West Virginians, and the message was simple: our state and its economy face challenging times. It is critical that the public and private sectors work together to boost economic development and put West Virginians back to work, and furthering programs through the Economic Development Administration are a good first step.”
